About the Virginia Verdicts Project

The University of Richmond Law Library created, developed and manages the Virginia Verdicts project. The goal of this project is to provide free public access to a range of materials and resources for cases and matters before the Virginia Supreme Court. We are building this project to enhance access to materials that are often difficult to locate or inaccessible.  We select and include stable and publicly-available resources. We assume all sources are reliable and accurate.

Entries in Virginia Verdicts link directly to free and permanent copies of opinions from the Supreme Court of Virginia. We do not host court opinions on this site.

In this project, we link to final opinions either from the court itself or from other sources. Most of the citations link to materials from CourtListener, as part of the Free Law Project, including their stewardship of the Caselaw Access Project materials.

For case commentary and annotations for individual cases, we link to publicly-available materials, frequently from law review articles or similar subscription-free resources.
